The World Nomads website is temporarily unavailable while we complete system changes as part of the global sale of World Nomads to its new owner, IMG. IMG is working hard behind the scenes to reflect the change in ownership and ensure a smooth transition. Our technical teams are implementing these changes to ensure a seamless customer experience and expect the website to be available again within approximately 2 hours.

Thank you for your patience while we complete this work.

Rest assured, your insurance benefits, coverage, and plan terms will not change as a result of this transaction. Your existing claims, customer service inquiries, and plan servicing will continue without interruption.

If you require urgent assistance while our website is unavailable, our Emergency Assistance team is available 24/7. For all other enquiries, please contact our Customer Service team in your location here.

Carrying wrapped presents, writing your home address on luggage tags, and being tipsy while traveling can all lead to a negative traveling experience – especially during the holidays, which are some of the busiest travel days of the year.

1. Secure the House

Before you leave home, cancel newspapers, install an automatic light timer to go on and off at various times, and ask a neighbor to collect mail or have it held at the post office.

2. Reduce Airport Stress

To feel chilled at the airport, allow ample time to get through check-in and to your gate - at least three hours for international flights and one hour for domestic.

If you find yourself in long lines, learn a few handy travel phrases or research your destination with our free guides, or listen to the World Nomads Podcast – download a podcast prior to flying.

3. Travel Light

Only travel with hand luggage that fits in the overhead compartments. This will save the extra stress of waiting in long baggage collection queues, or worse, having your bags go missing. Our best tip is to photograph the contents of your luggage before leaving home, and put contact details inside the case.

4. Luggage Tags

Identify ownership on luggage tags by only putting your name, phone number, and email – don't include your home address. Tie a colored ribbon to your bag handle to make it easier to spot when collecting your luggage.

5. Wear Shoes That Are Easy to Slide Off

To avoid stress at security, wear shoes that are easy to take on and off. Pack a pair of comfortable socks to slip on while you're on the plane, this will also make you feel more comfortable. Just remember, if your feet swell during the flight, it might be tricky to put your shoes back on.

6. Bring Essential Medication with Prescriptions

Don't forget to pack any essential medicines, along with the prescriptions, sanitized wipes, and a letter from your doctor if your medicine might make airport security curious when looking through your bags. Ensure any toiletries you take on the plane are 100ml or less, and contained in a ziplock bag, otherwise pack them in your checked luggage. Be sure to check with the airline before you go, just in case the limit is lower.

7. Don't Carry Wrapped Presents Without Knowing What's Inside

Make absolutely sure you know and trust what's in any packages you travel with; never unwittingly carry illegal goods through customs. Presents, either those being given to or received from someone overseas, should be unwrapped. Wrap them once you arrive at your destination.

8. Drink Responsibly

Drink responsibly while traveling. While under the influence of alcohol, a traveler is a bigger target for pickpockets and thieves, especially solo and female travelers.
